I used to work at McDonald's. And they do indeed just use Lipton tea bags and brew it in big metal machine. When it was done they added a big bag of sugar and its done. I'm about to make a big pot of this working in the kitchen on a hot day. Should hit the spot! thanks.

Tastes just like the original, and works with green tea with 30 minutes of steeping time!

I've been making this tea for years, When McDonald's sweet tea became so popular, I knew it was Lipton! The secret is not boiling the tea bags - it's steeping!

This recipe is perfect! Only thing I would fix is the cook time, it only took about thirty minutes.

Actually if you use agave syrup instead of sugar it's just as good. And better for diabetics because of agave's low glycemic rate. Plus agave can be used more sparingly than sugar.

This is the best sweet tea recipe. It is so simple. I cannot believe how good. I normally buy my sweet tea and go thru a bottle a day. Now I can make it at home and save a lot of money. Thanks so much for such a great and simple recipe. I did put the 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in.

I agree with Kim. I've been making sweet tea for 50 years. I learned from my grandmother who learned from hers. You need 4qts water, 6 teabags and at least 1 1/2 cups sugar. Dissolve sugar in hot water before steeping. Steep tea till water cools. Lipton tea is best and use lots of ice :) ENJOY!
