Filling came out great. Cakes came out very dense. Not moist like real devil dogs.

Very good! To make the cakes, I put the batter in a freezer bag, snipped about an inch off in the corner. Much easier to pipe them to get consistent sizes.

I made these for a Halloween party at church on October 26t It made 30 of them even though the recipe said, "20-24 cakes" Here's why: some of them turned out looking just like the dogs, some looked like blobs. Cream turned out great! (I'm not very good at making cream filling)
Here's a tip for the cakes:
Line cookie sheets with either parchment or notebook paper; I use the latter. Let cool long enough, then peel off. Don't make them too thin or they will break.
