This is amazing! I have the pickiest kids in the world and they absolutely loved it! We were all skeptical about this tasting like Chic-fil-A’s Mac n cheese but it’s even better. Thank you for sharing this recipe! I can make it for all 3 kids.

I didn’t have the Bellavitano gold cheese, so I substituted for extra Parmesan like it says to. Idk if that it why this wasn’t spot on, but my chick-fil-a Mac n cheese lovers were not impressed. Not sure I would make this recipe again.

Holy smokes. I was not expecting this to be THAT good. I’ve been on the hunt for a new Mac and cheese recipe- my previous one was good but it couldn’t stack up to the southern style Mac and cheese we’ve had since moving to Alabama. Enter this recipe. I think the combo of cooking the noodles really long and then adding American cheese is a game changer. This is creamy, cheesy, and a slight tangy zing. Beware- they’re going to want seconds!

I made this almost exactly as written (I forgot to buy Romano cheese and subbed Parmesan) for my grandchildren who love Chick Fil A Mac and cheese. All the big kids (11-14) said it was better than Chick Fil A. 16 month old loved it too and has a basis for comparison but not enough vocabulary to give an honest opinion. I will share this with everyone and make it for my next pot luck. Thanks for the recipe!!

So I smoked a 14# brisket and needed a side of Mac n cheese, looked up this recipe and thought why not, just for reference I make a lot of mac but never twice because I just don’t care for it, NOT ANY MORE. This is my go to Mac from now on, Ive never had it at chix-filet because I’d never give up the fries lol. I doubled the recipe and it fit perfectly in a 13x9. The recipe says to let cheese sauce sit for 10 minutes to thicken and I guess it did ever so slightly but I was worried so I waited 30 minutes and it never really changed so I mixed it with the noodles and said the hell with it, after putting the insane amount of cheese on top and baked it several hours later, it all came together and was fantastic. The noodles, I bought 2 boxes because I knew it would be mush and needed to make more El Dante but again I was wrong, kept a SLOW boil and 20 minutes later they were perfect. BTW, just had leftovers and it held together (no mush) and was delish. Nice job Todd, nice job !!

Excellent! It's been impossible to find the Bellatini Gold though. I really think it would take it to the next level but I just have to use parmesan. I'll still be on the lookout for the Gold.

I made this tonight and OMG, so good!! My son agreed with his dad and I, about it being so much better than Chick-Fil-A! One tip, for those whose said 20 minutes of cooking made their noodles mushy, turn the heat down to medium. Twenty minutes of cooking on high will turn them to mush, but 20 minutes on med-low was perfect! This is my new mac n cheese!!

I made this recipe exactly as written using all the recommended cheeses. For my comparison, I purchased a side of Mac & Cheese from Chick-fil-A and taste-tested them side-by-side. This recipe tastes just like the original from Chick-fil-A! I left mine under the broiler a little longer to get a darker top. Also, the flavors taste even better after 24-hours. This recipe is a homerun!

I made this for my husband over Christmas, and he is the biggest Mac & Cheese snob there is...He thought this was BETTER than Chik-Fil-A's! Well Done Todd! Cooking the macaroni for 20 mins worked PERFECTLY! Everything was a HIT! I used 2% lactose-free milk and it didn't make a difference! I did put it under the broiler for 5 mins, and it came out marvelous! Picture perfect even. I can't wait to try the Monte Cristo for his Birthday!.
