  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dried minced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

      1. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and place it over medium heat.

      2. When the mixture begins to boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Cool the sauce to room temperature, about 1 hour, before using.
