    The culinary development team at Domino's spent 2 years of trial-and-error testing to create a new version of the chain's original signature crust. The end result was a more flavorful crust with a top secret garlic spread brushed on after the pizza baked. While hacking Domino's new pizza for my TV show I discovered several secrets for making a great home clone of the famous pizza including a cold rise for the dough and a special blend of canned tomatoes for the sauce.

    Now I've taken my recipe from the Top Secret Recipe show and tweaked it for Dr. Oz so that the finished pizza is a lower-calorie, lower-fat version the world-famous Domino's cheese pie. You'll want to plan ahead for this recipe since the best way to make commercial-quality dough is to let it rise very slowly in the refrigerator—2 days seems to work great. If you don't have that much time, at least let the dough rise overnight. And if you want the bottom of the crust to look just like the chain's version, find a 14-inch perforated or mesh pizza pan online or at a restaurant supply store. These pans make a huge difference in the finished product, although a standard pizza pan will also produce fine pizza. And if you have a choice, the finely shredded (fancy) mozzarella cheese works best here.

    The TSR version of this tasty favorite appetizer comes in with a fat gram count that's even lower than the original, at only 6 grams. The fat-free cheese is where you're spared the major fat gram dosage. And the fat-free sour cream on the side, which nicely completes this guilt-free veggie-filled finger food, certainly helps to keep the waistline in check.

    When PepsiCo shelled out $100 million for a 67 percent share of the trendy pizza chain back in 1992, founders Lawrence Flax and Richard Rosenfield thought they had it made. Unfortunately, the company behind Pizza Hut found expanding the more upscale eatery an unfamiliar struggle. The company expanded too quickly, and as costs began to dwarf sales figures, fresh ingredients were replace with cheaper frozen products. Customers noticed and sales took a nosedive. By 1996, PepsiCo decided to bail out.

    The following year, PepsiCo's share of the chain was picked up by New York investment firm Rosser, Sherrill and Co. Fresh ingredients returned to the kitchens, and the size of the pizzas was increased without adjusting the price. Sales once again blossomed, and the chain was on its way back to turning its first profit since 1991.

    Here's a great pizza to clone if you need to take a little time off from delicious-yet-fat-filled mozzarella cheese. With the marinated, grilled eggplant and tasty honey-wheat dough, you won't even miss that gooey white stuff. Be sure to start this one a day before you plan to eat it. The dough needs that long to rise in the fridge for just the right California Pizza Kitchen-like taste.

    Who needs meat when you can make a pizza taste like this without it? It's grilled veggies and mozzarella cheese stacked on a great clone for the chain's tasty honey-wheat dough. With regular mozzarella cheese, the total fat for three slices comes in at around nineteen grams, which is still much less than you'd get from, say, the pepperoni-topped variety tipping the scales at about fifteen grams per slice. Just remember to prepare your dough a day before you plan to make the pizza. This way you'll get the best consistency in the final product. And one heck of a better clone.

    The original version of these bite-size breakfast treats made with extra thick pancake batter and coated with cinnamon sugar are a big success at Denny's. So, chefs there have come up with another version with blueberries and white chocolate chips inside. Initially I thought I could use an instant blueberry pancake mix to clone the new flavor, such as the mix made by Krusteaz. But those "blueberries" in there aren't even real blueberries - they're fake blueberry flavored bits. Not good. I found that the best solution for the best clone is to add chopped up dried blueberries to an extra-thick batter, along with a little chopped up white chocolate chips. The batter is easy to portion out using a 1 3/4-inch cookie scoop that's been dipped in oil, but you could also use a tablespoon measure as long as you don't scoop up too much. Keep your batter balls about 1 1/2 inches in diameter or they may not cook all the way through. Here are clones for the original Pancake Puppies as well as the new blueberry and white chocolate chip version.

    Dairy Queen’s got twice as many stores, but Baskin-Robbins is still the country’s second-largest ice cream chain with around 2,500 outlets spread across the nation. And, naturally, when the chain known for its 31 flavors of ice cream noticed the smoothie craze building in 1997, it hopped right on board with it's own selection made from sherbet or vanilla fat-free frozen yogurt. In the stores, servers use a pineapple juice concentrate for this smoothie, but we can still get a great clone by using the more popular canned pineapple juice found in any supermarket. As for the peaches, you may want to let them thaw a bit and then chop them up so you can get a more accurate measure.

    When Irv Robbins was discharged from the army in 1945, he hooked up with his brother-in-law Burt Baskin and the two opened an ice cream parlor in Glendale, California. A simple coin flip determined whose name would go first on the sign. By 1948 six Baskin-Robbins stores had opened their doors and the concept of franchising in the ice cream industry was born.

    You may want to let the strawberries thaw out a bit so that you can chop up the strawberries and get a more accurate measure. The word on the street is that some of those frozen whole strawberries can be quite big. Chopping them up first also helps you get a smoother blend going.

    It was in 1953 that the now-famous “31 Flavors” sign was introduced, burdening customers with the dilemma of having to decide which of so many great ice cream flavors they would choose. The number 31 was picked to suggest that a new flavor could be selected every day of the month. The company has come up with around one thousand flavors so far. And as with their most famous flavor, Rocky Road, many other original Baskin-Robbins flavor creations would be often imitated—among them Pralines and Cream and Jamoca Almond Fudge. For this great smoothie, you may want to chop up those frozen strawberries (especially the big ‘uns) to make measuring easier and more accurate.

    Baskin-Robbins has become known for creating flavors representing the events of the day. When the Brooklyn Dodgers moved to Los Angeles, the chain introduced “Baseball Nut.” When James Bond films were popular in the 60s, the chain rolled out “0031 Secret Bonded Flavor.” When the TV show Laugh-In became a big hit, the company created “Here Comes the Fudge”. And when Americans landed on the moon, Baskin-Robbins celebrated with “Lunar Cheesecake."

    This smoothie clone uses raspberry sherbet along with the vanilla frozen yogurt. It’s the most complex of Baskin-Robbins smoothie selections, but worth every bit of extra effort.

    Breakfast is a popular meal at Cracker Barrel restaurants. Just to prove it, the restaurant has some amazing statistics printed on the back of their breakfast menus: "Each Spring 607,142 Sugar Maple Trees must be tapped to produce enough pure maple syrup for our guests;" "It takes 5,615,000,000 (THAT'S BILLION!) coffee beans each year to satisfy our guests' need for coffee. Each tree produces only 1 pound of coffee per year, that's 1,560,000 trees."

    This recipe is a classic egg-in-the-hole recipe that I used to make all the time as a kid. I thought my family invented it.
